WHAT IS IT?

The Global Health calendar, or GH calendar, is a tool that will centralize information about events occurring worldwide related to Global Health, so you can easily access them and you don’t miss anything! The events will be published by us, but you can contribute in filling the calendar with GH events of your interest. We want this tool to be easily accessible, practical, updated and collaborative.

It is important to note that we do not organize the events found in this calendar. The ones organized by the Global Health Next Generation Network are found in Events.

This means that we cannot ensure that this events will happen, and we do not take responsibility if they are cancelled. We also want to make clear that we are not receiving any gains from promoting these events.

HOW CAN YOU CONTRIBUTE?

You can contribute to the GH calendar by sending us events you find interesting in the form found below, as long as they are within the scope of Global Health. We’ll review them and publish them on the calendar.

At the same time, you can also add comments giving your opinion of past events you have attended, either if you knew about them thanks to our tool or not. You will find the comments form soon in this page.

1:00 pm: How Restoration Can Support a Healthy Climate, Economy and Planet

April 29, 2021

Title: How Restoration Can Support a Healthy Climate, Economy and Planet (Digital Forum: Nature-based Solutions)

Organizers: Global Landscapes Forum, Collaborative Partnership on Forests (CPF) and the Global Partnership on Forest and Landscape Restoration (GPFLR)

Description: One of the most promising solutions to land degradation is restoration, which aims to regain ecological functionality and enhance human well-being in deforested or degraded landscapes. More than 2 billion hectares of such landscapes stand to be restored globally. However, implementation still remains far below the level needed to address land degradation on a global scale.

This event will help increase understanding in three key areas where restoration can make significant contributions: climate mitigation and adaptation, job creation, and reducing threats to biodiversity. It will also provide an opportunity to showcase the role of partnerships and collaboration in successful restoration.

12:30 am: Struggling With Care: Feminist/Queer Insights on COVID-19 as Socio-Ecological Crisis

May 6, 2021

Title: Struggling With Care: Feminist/Queer Insights on COVID-19 as Socio-Ecological Crisis

Organizers: Gender Centre, Graduate Institute Geneva

Description: In the context of the Covid-19 pandemic, feminist approaches to care and social reproduction have been widely used for highlighting the value of life-making activities including healthcare and education, as well as the persistence of stark care inequalities along the lines of gender, race, and class. However, the socio-ecological dimension of care and reproduction remains far less explored.

Thinking with feminist and queer networks in Italy with references to transnational activism, this presentation argues for a reconsideration of care and reproduction to account for the socio-ecological relations in which the pandemic is embedded.
