Title: Global Vaccine Equity: Reflections, Lessons, and a Way Forward
Organizers: McGill
Description: As western democracies transition to an endemic approach to COVID-19, countries in the global south continue to grapple with inadequate vaccination rates and anemic vaccine manufacturing infrastructures. Underpinning the issue of global vaccine equity is a history of colonialism that has fueled mistrust and vaccine hesitancy. Join us for an engaging panel to discuss how vaccine equity is connected to post-colonial structures. This discussion will cover topics related to historical inequities, vaccine hoarding, patent laws and vaccine manufacturing challenges, the role of higher education institutions, and a productive way forward to mitigate global vaccine inequity.
