WHAT IS IT?
The Global Health calendar, or GH calendar, is a tool that will centralize information about events occurring worldwide related to Global Health, so you can easily access them and you don’t miss anything! The events will be published by us, but you can contribute in filling the calendar with GH events of your interest. We want this tool to be easily accessible, practical, updated and collaborative.
It is important to note that we do not organize the events found in this calendar. The ones organized by the Global Health Next Generation Network are found in Events.
This means that we cannot ensure that this events will happen, and we do not take responsibility if they are cancelled. We also want to make clear that we are not receiving any gains from promoting these events.
HOW CAN YOU CONTRIBUTE?
You can contribute to the GH calendar by sending us events you find interesting in the form found below, as long as they are within the scope of Global Health. We’ll review them and publish them on the calendar.
At the same time, you can also add comments giving your opinion of past events you have attended, either if you knew about them thanks to our tool or not. You will find the comments form soon in this page.

Debele juxtaposes two divergent archives to think about how the female body is produced through discourses on sexual desire. On one hand, she focuses on Wendy Belcher’s and Michael Kleiner’s controversial translation of a hagiography of a female patron saint from the 16th century. On another, she looks at magazines – which exclusively focused on women and sex – that were produced in the first few years of regime change in Ethiopia in 1991. Across the world, climate change and environmental degradation are threatening child survival, health, and well-being. It’s critical to scale up interventions to ensure a healthy environment for all children, especially for those that are the most vulnerable. Action on climate change and environmental degradation - taken for children and with them – is a UNICEF priority. The right to a healthy environment underpins the rights of all children not only to survive but to thrive and live in dignity. In this webinar we gather experts from Norwegian Institute of Public Health, CHAIN and UNICEF. How can we challenge and learn from each other? How can Norway best contribute to understanding children’s environmental risks? How can the research community and experts work together with UN organizations and civil society? 11:00 am: Narratives in Refuge11:00 am: Narratives in Refuge – Title: Narratives in Refuge (Narratives en Refugi) session 2: Curricular link of audiovisual materials on migrations and refuge Organizers: Center of Resources for Youth Associations in Barcelona (CRAJ) Description: Accompaniment in the introduction and use of short films ("Barcelona, refugi en curt") in the classrooms of primary, secondary, baccalaureate and professional trainings, but also in spaces of educational leisure, youth services and training of adults. The webinar will provide guidance on how to pedagogically use the 17 short films selected to talk about forced migration and refuge from the point of view of children, adolescents, young people and families in refuge. The webinar will provide tools and strategies for activating a critical view of the world, dismantling stereotypes and fostering empathy. And how does biodiversity loss play into that? The COVID-19 crisis is just one current example reiterating the importance of these interaction. KAN Party and IFMSA have organised a symposium to learn about these topics and address why they are not yet part of the health-related curricula at Maastricht University. The symposium will include keynote speakers from Harvard University, The Lancet Countdown, the WHO, Dutch and German Universities who will elaborate on the different aspects and perspectives of the relationship between health and climate change. During a short workshop, you will also get to learn about the links between biodiversity and psychology in an interactive way. At the end of the second day, a panel discussion will take place on how we can incorporate the discussed aspects in all health-related curricula at UM. With these ideas, we hope to further push our university to act and adapt our education to our current and future challenges.
